I have really learned allot from your blender tutorials and would like to thank you for your extensive efforts.
Excellent work Robert! This is some quality work you have done. I am preparing to go to art school and hope to someday do great work like you. Keep it up!
About Ubuntu,I use Ubuntu over a one year,I recommend a 64-bit version of new 8.10 version its work faster than Windows XP or Ubuntu 8.01 32-bit. I have tested Blender,Gimp and Inkscape, thay all worked faster on 64-bit Ubuntu. For dual boot the best solution is 2xHDD one for XP second for Ubuntu, and when instal Ubuntu disconect XP-HDD and Ubuntu boot loader will be instaled on second HDD,this is how I use Linux on separate hard drive, best regards to all.
Its really encouraging the amount of positive comments you have all given, thanks so much for your kind words. It's spurred me into working on a new tutorial which should be posted before November.
@ Mehmet Yozcu: Thanks for bringing to peoples attention the problems between Object Mode and Edit Mode scaling. Its something I fell foul of in the early days of learning Blender and disciplined myself to only scale in Edit Mode, unless it was a finished model being scaled to suit a scene at a different scale. It needs mentioning and I will at some stage try and work it into the guide.
Thanks again for all the comments, it's a great encouragement to keep me continuing with the site.

I want to add something very important for being precise and I think it should be highlighted
You know in Edit mode, on the Mesh Tools 1 panel, the object's edge lengths can be activated to be seen. That is, Blender shows the edge lengths in Edit mode if you press Edge Length button on the Mesh Tools 1 panel.
The lengths are in Blender units not in mm or cm.That is OK.
They are correctly shown while you insistently work(Scale,Grab,Rotate,Transform...) in Edit mode.It works pretty well.
Whaf if you scaled the object in Object mode and then get into Edit mode to see the edges' lengths...
They are not correct anymore. The values you would see are the ones just last time you get out of Edit mode.
The situation is worse if you scaled the object in the -X,-Y,-Z axes by different amounts in Object mode and get into Edit mode. They are not consistent anymore.
If the edge length and angle values are important for you and if you work precisely, then you must never do any operations which resulting a change in lengths and angles in Object mode. Just do these kind of operations in Edit mode.
I think it would be if better if the edge length values be synchronized in between Edit mode and Object mode. Otherwise we have to be careful reading the edge length and angle values
Excellent tutorials! Demonstrated some great techniques for precision modeling that were hard to find elsewhere. Thanks for taking the time to put these together
I am a mechanical engineer and I have experienced with ,more or less, AutoCAD, Solid Edge, SolidWorks, Catia, Inventor.I am interested especially precise part modelling in 2D and 3D, assembling, animating the mechanical assemblies and mechanisms. As a new beginner to Blender I was trying to learn and wondering if precise drafting and 3D modelling was possible in Blender, your website has come in front of me. I thank you very much for your great help. That was just What I needed.Best Wishes and May God Bless You
I have been following your recent tutorial updates and I am very impressed with the techniques you are sharing freely. I am a Technical Illustrator and I am finding your tutorials to be an invaluable source. Many Thanks.
Thanks alot for all the great information on your site. I am currently trying to promote blender at work for presentation purposes and your information helps out alot.
Your Bearing tutorial has helped me in so many ways. It has helped me to think differently about how I approach modeling. Without a doubt one of the best tutorial for Blender there is.
Thanks for sharing!
